Once upon a time there was a cheeky little monkey named Curious Georgia who asked way too many questions. Curious Georgia would also get into sticky situations when she was bored or stayed in one place for too long. "Curious Georgia, you need to travel the world" her friends told her. "Hmmmmm, good idea, she thought but how would a cheeky little monkey be able to do this?" She thougbt and thought, a flight attendant? Nah, she had tried that and being the curious monkey that she was she had pushed the wrong button. Let's see, what goes around the world? Fed-ex? Nah, the uniforms just would not suit her. What then? What else goes around the world? A boat, yes a boat that would be perfect as she loves the ocean. So Curious Georgia got a job on a very large yacht as a stewardess, why even a monkey could do this job she thought. Curious Georgia put all her things in storage, packed a very small bag for this monkey, indeed. She then went aboard the boat to see her new home and to meet her new friends and coworkers whom she would be sharing adventures with. Her cabin was the perfect size for Georgia, very cozy and she would be sharing it with her fellow stewardess Sam who she could tell was going to become a very good friend. The other stewardess was Lia from Fijji. There were twelve people that lived there and she was excited to meet them all, there was Capitano, an Aussie bloke who drove the boat and was top dawg! There were Mr Engineer, and Madam Purser, a very delightful couple, she is Australian and he is British. 2nd engineer, we will call him Jon, a british fellow. 1st mate, Sy who is British as well. Then there were Matty who is Fijian, Dez, South African, they both are our deckhands. Last but not least one of Georgia's own dear friends Jj, Australian and Bosun on the boat. Oh dear Georgia is the only American on this boat, but that is exciting and she has a lot to learn. These are the stories of Curious Georgia and her friends.....

Curious Georgia Goes to Sea.... and sees The Azores!
Hi everyone,
After much grief from friends and family, I am finally getting this started although having some issues with the format for the description of the blog, so bear with me.
This is my eleventh day at sea. The first ten days the weather was absolutely perfect!! It was like being in a great big cradle..super smooth. Last night it started getting a little bumpier and it is progressively getting worse. I am not seasick at all but my calves are so sore from running around Horta that I am having a tough time balancing.
I want to write about the Azores while it is fresh in my mind. I will try to fill in background info as I go along and answer questions I have been asked. I woke up yesterday at around 4 am because the boat had slowed down to around 9 knots (usually goes 12) and it felt like we stopped. I could not go back to sleep and we had to be on deck to help with fenders at 6 am anyway. I was on deck at 5:30 am just as the sun was coming up and we were pulling into the Island of Faial. I got some great pics so won't bother explaining as you can see the pics, but it was really, really beautiful and really exciting just to see land!
We finished our work on the boat at lunch and we were off. Sam was on watch so Titilia and I went to walk around the Island and see what we could find. The weather was AWESOME, cool and sunny, perfect! Someone told us it was the first nice weather they had had in 6 months so again, we seem BLESSED. We walked and walked and saw just about everything there was to see ( Horta is not very big). We then stumbled upon a very large store, the only store in Horta that seemed to be open, that was full of nice things, clothes, scarves, ect.. and cheap, cheap prices. I excitedly picked out some beautiful scarves and a sweater that I needed as it is going to be a little chilly in France, got to the counter and they don't take American money?????
We went to find an atm to get some Euros, my first Euros. While we were out we ran into Matty and Jj so we all decided to go to a wee cafe the others had told us about called Casa. After lots more walking we found it on an obscure street up a very large hill. It was sooo worth all that work to find it though. It was absolutely charming, beautifully renovated with a beautiful back garden.... Very ZEN.
The proprieter was quietly reading his book in his flowing white yoga pants and we organized for him to bring us some local Portuguese wine he recommended. The wine was lovely, like an even more tart NZ sav blanc, loved it.....especially after ten days with no wine at all. 3 bottles later the others joined us and we spent a lovely afternoon in the garden...planned on going back to the boat to change for dinner, but alas this never happened.
We hit Pete's Famous Sailor Bar and then onto dinner. We went to a restaurant where you cooked your meat yourself on hot rocks. Hhhhmmmm, I can tell you that I was in no state to cook my own dinner. We ended up in some nightclub that the others said may or may not have been someone's home. Wish I could remember!
Which leads me back to the boat at two am where I was peacefully sitting on the passerelle (the thing that you use to walk onto the boat from the dock) and next thing you know I was in the water next to the boat (not a safe place to be as you can get squashed by the boat). I had to be pulled up with quite some difficulty and then hosed off (to get the salt water off). I was not a happy camper at this stage, but my crew mates seemed to think it was hilarious!
Not to worry folks as the whole thing was documented on more then one camera We even have a DVD of the whole afternoon and evening. Nice........
And yes, now we are off again on our way to Nice....more soon.
